Where do you park at Rooster Rock?

We recommend parking in the parking lot at Rooster Rock State Park. If you want to access the nude beach /clothing-optional beach, park at the east end (turn right when you enter the park). To park in the parking lot you’ll need to pay the $5 day-use rate per vehicle when you arrive, or purchase an annual pass online or from a vendor in advance. 

Is alcohol allowed at Rooster Rock?

Yes, according to stateparks.oregon.gov, you may bring alcohol to state parks, except where specifically banned. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the park for individuals younger than age 21.

Can you swim at Rooster Rock?

Yes, when the weather is warm, many people swim at Rooster Rock.

Can dogs go to Rooster Rock?

Yes! People often bring their dogs. Please pick up after your dog.

What time does Rooster Rock close? 

In the summer the park is open from dawn to dusk. In the winter the park is open from 7 am until 6 pm.

Is Rooster Rock clothing optional?

Yes, there is a clothing-optional section of the beach. It is a 0.4 mile walk from the parking lot.

Does Portland have a gay beach?

There are two clothing optional beaches near Portland (Rooster Rock and Sauvie Island), and both have areas where many gay, lesbian, queer, trans, and other LGBTQIA+ people hang out. Rooster Rock is an inclusive place with all types of people, including families with children. At Rooster Rock, many queer folx tend to gather towards the east end of the clothing-optional beach (both on the mainland and Sand Island).

What is the best nude beach in Oregon?

Rooster Rock! Of course, we’re a bit biased. Rooster Rock is beautiful, has great sand beaches, bathrooms, picnic areas, a shower and foot wash station, lots of parking, a giant nude beach section, is queer-friendly, and has a friendly atmosphere.
