About the water level
Many visitors to Rooster Rock like to hang out on what is colloquially known as “the Island”. Because the water level fluctuates, it’s often possible to wade to the Island, sometimes it requires swimming or floating, and sometimes the Island becomes a peninsula.
- Rooster Rock is above sea level, so a hypothetical water level of 8 feet doesn’t indicate that the water will be over your head.
- Because of underwater sand ridges, abrupt drops are common while wading. Please tread carefully.
